Mark Banister – 

Founder of RxActuator, Medipacs and inventor of the technology. Experienced entrepreneur since the age of 18. Mark has a diverse manufacturing and product development background with hands on experience in all aspects of metal and plastic component design development and commercialization. Over fourteen years experience in polymer chemistry, epoxy and hydrogel design. 14 years of Medical device development experience specifically in molecular hydrogel structures and smart materials. Inventor on 17 issued patents and several more pending patents. Mark is an experienced Principal Investigator on multiple grants and author of several published papers as well as numerous awards for the technology. Mark has significant start-up CEO experience and is now focused on making RxActuator a success with the device that will ultimately turn Medipacs around.

 

 


Doug Nutter – Chief Marketing Officer

Doug will manage  Product Commercialization of Sales and Marketing, and handle initial Arizona, NM and Texas sales. Doug recently served as Chief Development Officer (CDO) with SynCardia Systems, where he oversaw engineering, product development, research, and program management for the privately-held manufacturer of the world’s first and only FDA approved Total Artificial Heart. Doug led the team through development, manufacturing startup and FDA approval of the only polymer material and heart valves approved for the TAH.   he led the team to develop the smaller 50cc TAH for smaller sized patients to complement the current 70cc TAH. He also led the conception of the NextGEN ultra-quiet Freedom® 2 Portable Driver for home use, with significant improvements by design in reliability, and unit-cost reduction. Before being promoted to CDO, Douglas served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) with the company, where he oversaw manufacturing, quality, and engineering.  He is President/owner of Aurorapath Advisers, served as Vice President of Optical Research Associates, and General Manager, Electro-Optics Group with Zygo Corporation. Over 23 years at General Electric, Doug held increasing Product and Market management responsibilities, generating over $300 million of annual revenue creation through New Product and New Markets.  Doug was President and lead executive of the 50/50 Joint Venture Exatec, LLC, General Electric and Bayer.  He has broad market, customer and supply chain success in the US, Europe and Asia across the Automotive, Computer, Business equipment, Medical, Plastics, and Optics sectors. Doug holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Wendy Berke, RN, BSN, MHA

Regional Sales Manager – Southern California

Wendy will be handling sales of the RxActuator device in southern California and is a clinical consultant with specialties in life sciences, healthcare IT, pain management, patient safety and critical care. She has spent the past 3 years developing a veterinarian network and working with hundreds of veterinarians developing customer consensus around the need for wearable injector devices for animals. This includes conducting over 50 veterinarian use case studies of the Medipacs pump providing a unique expertise in the animal device market.  Wendy currently provides clients with clinical product development expertise and marketing/education tools within consumer and clinical markets.  As a BSN/MHA educated critical care nurse, she has served multiple companies (start-ups and Fortune 500) and healthcare organizations in bedside nursing, executive leadership, medical education, clinical marketing, sales, and scientific communications.  While at the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), a membership organization, Wendy served as the V.P. of Business Development.  She has also contributed to medical device product development at companies including CareFusion (Cardinal Health), HemoTherapies, VitalCom (GE) and Medipacs. She has led clinical applications teams and supported clinical training at the aforementioned companies.  Wendy received a BSN in Nursing from The Ohio State University and a Masters in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Chapman University.

Rx Actuator’s senior management team, Board of Directors and team of advisors have extensive experience and successful track records introducing novel medical devices and infusion systems that have created meaningful business franchises and established significant value for physicians, patients, employees and shareholders.

Harry_GeorgeHarry George

Harry George has over 35 years experience in founding, operating and investing in successful rapid growth technology-related companies. He is a co-founder of Solstice Capital. From 1981 to 1989, Mr. George was co-founder, Director, and Vice-President of Finance for Interleaf Inc. During this time Interleaf grew to be a publicly traded company with $100 million in annual revenue. In January 2000, Interleaf was acquired by Broadvision in a stock merger that valued Interleaf at approximately $900 million. Harry has been a Director of a number of private and public companies and is a member of the Investors’ Circle. Harry is a member of the advisory committee of the MBA program at the Eller School of Business of the University of Arizona He received an AB from Bowdoin College.

 

 


Jim Utts

Jim Utts is an Operating Partner with Roundtable Healthcare Partners located in Lake Forest, IL (www.roundtablehp.com) having joined the firm in 2007. Prior to this, Jim spent 25 plus years in various senior management roles working for Baxter Healthcare where his most recent position was President of Baxter Europe. He has extensive operating experience in intravenous solutions, drug delivery and infusion therapy businesses worldwide.

Mark has over 30 years of experience in business, product design, polymer chemistry, mechanical engineering, manufacturing and tooling design. Currently the PI on a National Science Foundation STTR Phase II Grant, Mark has been able to leverage over $1M in grant funding into over $3M in angel funding.
